Politics of Jackson
The city of Jackson became incorpated as a city in 1905. The city is a general law city that provides a variety of excellent municipal services to it's residents.
The population of Jackson is 4,320 with daytime and weekend population up to 12,000 - 15,000. The city operates under the city conuncil/manager form of government. The city manager reports to a 5 member city council from which the Mayor is appointed annually. The system of government is combind with strong political leadership with strong managerial experience that are elected to carry out policy and ensure that the entire community is being served.
Jackson has a full time staff of 33 that provides quaility and friendly services of police, fire, public works, community developments, parks, water/sewer utility and recreation services.
City council meetings are open to the public. The city meets on the second and fourth Monday each month at 7pm in the City Council Chamber at the Civic Center.
